Catholic Schools Week

United in Faith & Community
Sunday, January 25: Celebrating Our Catholic Parishes
Students are encouraged to attend Catholic Mass at their local parish wearing John Carroll apparel and take a photo with a member of the clergy or of themselves at the Church. Students are asked to respect the reverence of the church and the celebration of Mass. They should not take photos during Mass or distract people who gathered to pray. They can share them on social media using #CSW26 and tag us on Instagram (@johncarrollschool), Twitter (@jcschool) or Facebook (@johncarrollschool) so we can share with our community.
Monday, January 26: Celebrating Our Community
A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities — both local and beyond — they demonstrate the values and faith they gain through their Catholic education. When they observe how others serve the community, they gain an appreciation for how they can continue to serve others their entire lives.
Additional Happenings
- John Carroll will welcome area Youth Ministers and Directors of Religious Education for a tour of the School and prayer service with a welcome reception to follow.
Tuesday, January 27: Celebrating Our Students
Today, during Catholic Schools Week, we celebrate you — our amazing students! You are the heart of our school, and we are grateful for your dedication, faith and willingness to grow both in knowledge and spirit.
Did you know? Studies show that students in Catholic schools are more likely to graduate high school and go on to higher education, thanks to the supportive, faith-based learning environment provided here.
School Supply Drive & Dress-Down Day
- Students may bring in one school supply (crayons, pencils, Post-it notes, dry-erase markers or glue sticks) or a $5 cash donation to participate in the Dress-Down Day. All supplies and funds will support students at Cardinal Shehan School and St. Francis School in the Archdiocese.
Wednesday, January 28: Celebrating the Nation
On National Appreciation Day for Catholic schools, students, families, educators and other Catholic school supporters communicate the value of Catholic education to government leaders. They share information with leaders on the significant contributions Catholic schools make to the Nation and their role in preparing students to be good citizens. They pray for the Nation and recognize all those who serve.
Thursday, January 29: Celebrating Vocations
Today, we focus on the cornerstone of our school — our Catholic faith. Our faith is what sets us apart and drives everything we do here at The John Carroll School. Today is a reminder of the importance of prayer, the sacraments and living out our Catholic values in all aspects of life.
Did you know? Catholic schools place a strong emphasis on religious education, with nearly 70% of students attending Mass weekly and participating in regular religious activities. This helps students grow in their relationship with God and their understanding of the teachings of the Church.
Sophomore Pinning
- In the evening, the Class of 2028 and their families will come together for their Sophomore Pinning milestone. Sophomores can also wear their class shirts with their uniform bottoms in school that day.
Friday, January 30: Celebrating Faculty, Staff and Volunteers
Today is all about honoring our incredible faculty and staff. These dedicated individuals are committed to providing not only academic education but also moral and spiritual guidance. Their hard work, compassion and care make our school a special place.
Did you know? Research indicates that Catholic school teachers are more likely to develop close, positive relationships with their students, resulting in a stronger sense of community and better educational outcomes. Take a moment today to thank your teachers and staff members for all they do to support your growth in faith and learning.
