NOMINATIONS
Those considered for the Athletics Hall of Fame are nominated by their peers, with final selections made by the Selection Committee every two years. There are three categories for nomination — athlete, coach and contributor. Athletics Hall of Fame classes will consist of no more than eight honorees, with an equal number of male and female inductees. Please note, all championship-winning teams are automatically members of the Hall of Champions.
The Selection Committee is responsible for reviewing qualified nominees, reviewing all nominations submitted to ensure they meet the minimum criteria for consideration, and selecting the members of each Athletics Hall of Fame class.
The Selection Committee is made up of:
- a current faculty/staff member of the Athletics Department;
- a current John Carroll administrator;
- an alumni representative as determined by the School; and
- two coaches, one active between 1964–1995 and another between 1996–2025.
2025–2026 TIMELINE

CRITERIA
To be eligible for consideration, nominees must meet the below criteria.
- A graduate of John Carroll in good standing
- At least 10 years removed from graduation; exceptions to the 10-year guideline are appropriate for those athletes whose performance (e.g., national champions, etc.) is above and beyond the norm attained by most Hall of Fame athletes. In no case shall less than four years have elapsed since graduation.
- Outstanding athletic achievement while attending John Carroll and, if applicable, at the college level and beyond

HONORING OUR TEAMS
In an effort to create a meaningful and long-lasting tradition of celebrating the legacy of Patriots Athletics, championship-winning teams that reach the 25-year anniversary of their title victories will be recognized and honored, fostering a sense of pride and connection among alumni and the John Carroll community. Please note, this tradition of recognition began in the 2024–2025 school year and the School has plans to honor those teams who already surpassed their 25-year anniversaries.
Championship Team Recognition Schedule
Fall sports teams celebrating 25-year anniversaries will be honored during the Homecoming Football games. Teams being honored will be introduced on the field at halftime and invited to a reception.
Winter and spring sports teams celebrating 25-year anniversaries will be celebrated at the annual Hall of Champions Ceremony on the Friday of Milestone Reunion Weekend, which is typically held in April.
Basketball teams will be honored at a Varsity double-header game featuring both the Girls and Boys Basketball teams. Teams will be recognized during halftime and invited to continue the celebration at a reception in the Learning Commons following the games.
Baseball and Softball teams celebrating 25-year anniversaries will be honored at the annual Joshua Hamer Memorial Baseball Game at Ripken Stadium. This event has become one of the most well-attended and special Athletics events, as it provides a unique and memorable setting to celebrate not just John Carroll Baseball, but the entire John Carroll community.
