Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The John Carroll School is proud to announce the 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees — Erica Bodt '12, Mike Dee '81, Brooks Dei '69, Brendan Hanley '84, Bernard (Bernie) Mullin, Immanuel Quickley '18, Elisabeth Tauber '11 and Serena Buontempo von Paris '09.
Nominated by their peers and chosen by the Selection Committee from a strong pool of nominees, these inductees represent the best of the best in athletics and embody the core values of Patriots Athletics — teamwork, sportsmanship, a strong competitive spirit and leadership. The Athletics Hall of Fame stands as a symbol of excellence and dedication, honoring those who excelled in their respective sports and inspired their teammates. The below Patriots will be inducted at a special ceremony on April 17, 2026.

Erica Bodt '12, Athlete
From her early days as a two-sport standout at The John Carroll School, Erica Bodt '12 quickly established herself as a force in the Lacrosse and Soccer Programs. Her talent and leadership on the lacrosse field earned her All-Conference recognition, setting the stage for an impressive collegiate career at Syracuse University.As a four-year member of the Orange, Erica made significant contributions to the team's NCAA Tournament runs and Final Four appearances. Her versatility and skill in the midfield led to more than 50 career points and recognition on the prestigious Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Off the field, she excelled academically, earning a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Transitioning to professional play, Erica showcased her abilities with the Baltimore Ride in the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX). She was selected to the 2017 UWLX Showcase Roster. She also spent three years as the head coach for a youth club lacrosse team. Erica currently works as a hospital surgical sales representative and resides in Bel Air, MD.Throughout her athletics journey, Erica demonstrated exceptional talent, unwavering dedication and outstanding leadership in the sport of lacrosse.
Mike Dee '81, Lifetime Achievement
With a versatile career spanning top leadership roles in sports, Mike Dee '81 boasts a proven track record within major franchises, including as CEO for the San Diego Padres and Miami Dolphins as well as COO with the Boston Red Sox. Under his strategic guidance, these organizations experienced substantial revenue growth, increased fan engagement, and the execution of transformative stadium projects. Mike currently resides in Naples, FL where he serves as Chairman, CEO & Co-Founder of Pickleball4America, home of the US Open Pickleball Championships, as well as President of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike's commitment to fostering growth and excellence reflects the impact John Carroll alumni have on the world. Among his philanthropic and community service initiatives, Mike has been a significant supporter of cancer research, serving as Chairman of the Pan-Mass Challenge, which has raised over $1 billion. Mike's career and character serve as inspiration for future generations of John Carroll students, highlighting the potential for global leadership and power of passion in driving success.
Brooks Dei '69, Athlete
As a member of The John Carroll School's first Baseball team, Brooks Dei '69 made Patriots Athletics history by throwing the program's inaugural pitch. Throughout his three-year Varsity career, he demonstrated exceptional talent as both a starter and reliever, boasting an impressive 121 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched and an ERA below 1.00 as a Senior. Brooks Dei's contributions to John Carroll's Baseball Program are symbolic of his trailblazing spirit and commitment to excellence, both on and off the field.
Brendan Hanley '84, Athlete
Beginning his impressive lacrosse journey as a four-year Varsity starter at John Carroll, Brendan Hanley '84 quickly made his mark as a prolific scorer. Leading the team in points during his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years, Brendan's talent and leadership earned him team captain his final two seasons. His outstanding performances also led John Carroll to an MSA Championship in 1984.
Brendan's career statistics boast an impressive 80 goals and 130 assists, totaling 210 points. As a Senior, he ranked among the top three scorers in the state. Numerous accolades followed, including All-MSA and All-Metro honors, and the coveted C. Markland Kelly Award for the best high school lacrosse player in Maryland.
Continuing his lacrosse career at the University of Maryland, Brendan contributed significantly to the Terps' success, earning All-American recognition. With 140 career points, he solidified his place among Maryland's all-time scoring leaders and participated in the team's elite NCAA Division I lacrosse competitions.
After working at well-known apparel companies including Billabong and Under Armour, Brendan started Ocean City-based Pure Lure Reel Fishing Gear in 2018, billed as the performance brand of choice for the adventurous watermen. His dedication and leadership throughout his career reflect John Carroll's tradition of exceptional student-athletes.
Bernard (Bernie) Mullin, Contributor
With a remarkable career spanning 32 years (1969-2000), Bernie Mullin left an indelible mark on The John Carroll School's Athletics Program. Coaching a record-setting 916 competitions across multiple sports, his dedication to mentoring student-athletes and fostering growth is legendary.
Bernie coached Varsity, JV and Freshman-Sophomore level Basketball for a total of 271 wins and 197 losses over 22 seasons. Additionally, he coached the 1988-1989 Varsity team to the Baltimore Metropolitan Area Fuel Fund Game victory. His impressive record also includes three MSA JV Championships in baseball and a combined 200-169 record across 10 years of coaching Boys Cross Country and a 24-7 combined record in a single season coaching Girls Cross Country.
With a career winning percentage of 57.5% across all sports and levels, Bernie's legacy extends beyond mere numbers. His leadership, consistency and commitment to excellence shaped Patriots Athletics, leaving a lasting impact on Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country and Soccer.
Immanuel Quickley '18, Athlete
Immanuel Quickley '18 is the School's all-time leading scorer in Boys Basketball and earned numerous accolades throughout high school, including induction into the Baltimore Catholic League Hall of Fame, being named to the McDonald's All-American Team and leading the Patriots to a conference title.
Immanuel's college career at the University of Kentucky saw him excel on the court, culminating in being named SEC Player of the Year in 2020. His professional journey began when the Oklahoma City Thunder selected him in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. He started the 2020 season with the New York Knicks. Now playing for the Toronto Raptors, Immanuel continues to make his mark as a dynamic scorer and dedicated teammate.
Off the court, he remains deeply committed to his roots and the community that shaped him. Through the Immanuel Quickley Family Foundation, he established the Immanuel Quickley Scholarship at The John Carroll School. This generous initiative offers five young basketball student-athletes full tuition each year, supporting their academic and athletic aspirations. Immanuel also supports local organizations and runs youth basketball programs in the off season. Immanuel's story serves as an inspiration to young athletes everywhere, embodying the true spirit of hard work, dedication and giving back.
Elisabeth Tauber '11, Athlete
Currently a Speech Language Pathologist in Tampa, FL, Elisabeth Tauber '11 began her journey in Cross Country and Track & Field at The John Carroll School, where she played a pivotal role in securing multiple team championships. A two-time IAAM Champion and three-time Maryland/Washington, D.C. Private School State Champion, Elisabeth showcased her talent and dedication to the sport.
Her individual accomplishments are equally impressive, earning All-County First Team honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track throughout her high school career. As a testament to her success, Elisabeth was named Baltimore Sun Runner of the Year in 2009 and received the esteemed C. Markland Kelly Award.
At Towson University, she set six school records — two in cross country, two in indoor track and another two in outdoor track. As the team's top finisher in conference meets, she earned All-CAA recognition and demonstrated exceptional leadership as team captain. Balancing academic excellence with athletics, Elisabeth's discipline and determination set her apart.
After graduating from Towson University, Elisabeth continued running, winning her first marathon and completing seven more, including the Boston, New York and Baltimore Marathons.
From a young age, Elisabeth has been a committed volunteer, dedicating time to supporting her church, Special Olympics and other nonprofit organizations.Through her remarkable achievements at John Carroll and Towson University, Elisabeth has left a lasting legacy as an exemplary student-athlete.
Serena Buontempo von Paris '09, Athlete
An accomplished cheerleader, Serena Buontempo von Paris '09 made her mark both at The John Carroll School and on the professional stage. As a captain and vital team member of the School's Cheerleading Team, she honed the skills that would pave the way for an exciting career in the world of professional cheerleading.
Remarkably, Serena secured a coveted spot on the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleading Team in March of 2009 as a student at John Carroll and made history as one of the youngest members to be selected. She remained a member for 10 years, serving as Captain and Co-Captain, and performed at prestigious events such as Super Bowl XLVII and Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Her talent and dedication caught the attention of the NFL, leading to multiple selections for USO International Tours. As an NFL Ambassador, she proudly represented the organization abroad, sharing her passion for cheerleading on a global scale. Today, she continues to stay connected to the team as a member of the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleading Alumni Association.
Serena balanced her cheerleading career with earning her dental hygiene degree, to then working in a dental office and serving as the Director of Business Development for Maryland-based Von Paris Moving and Storage. She's also found joy in volunteering at the United States Naval Academy Museum.
Her husband, Sam von Paris ’09, is also a John Carroll graduate. Serena’s greatest joy comes from being a devoted mother to her two young sons that she hopes will be Patriots.
