Q: WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND?

A: It’s your opportunity to support the general operations of the school. The Annual Fund is vital to The John Carroll School and community. The Annual Fund is the backbone of the school's development efforts and is important because the school's financial strength is at the core of its programmatic strength.

Q: ISN’T THAT WHAT TUITION IS FOR?

A: Yes, but tuition doesn’t pay for everything. The majority of private schools rely on charitable gifts to make up the difference between actual cost and budget.

Q: WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

A: Excellent faculty, advanced technology, fine arts, athletics, and an academic program second to none are a few of the components that make a John Carroll education so special. And each component needs funding. Tuition dollars alone cannot underwrite these initiatives, but your gifts to the Annual Fund can.

Q: WHO SUPPORTS THE ANNUAL FUND?

Parents, alumni/ae, past parents, faculty/staff, grandparents, friends and businesses all contribute to the Fund’s success. In addition, 100% of the John Carroll Board of Trustees have already gifted or pledged to this year’s Fund.

Q: CAN I RESTRICT MY GIFT TO PARTICULAR DEPARTMENTS AND/OR PROGRAMS?

While the Annual Fund is intended to raise unrestricted gifts to be used where they are most needed, your restricted gifts are welcomed and appreciated. Please contact the Director of Development to discuss your restricted gift.

Q: IS MY GIFT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes, John Carroll is a 501©(3) nonprofit corporation, so your contributions are tax-deductible.

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS THIS YEAR?

Unrestricted goal: $275,000

Restricted goal: $250,000

We are striving for 15% alumni/ae participation and 75% parent participation.

Q: HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

There are many ways for you to make your investment in John Carroll:

• Send your gift by mail – a remittance envelope can be found in the Annual Report, “Connections” or by contacting the Development Office.
• Online at www.johncarroll.org, click on “Make A Gift” – MC/Visa accepted
• Automatic payment – call the Development Office with your credit card information and we’ll charge your designated installments over the course of the school year.
• Appreciated securities – call the Development Office for more information
