Education: Williams College, B.A.; Univ. of Virginia, M. Ed.

Hometown: Wilmington, DE

Years in teaching: 32

What I teach & do at John Carroll: President

I became a teacher because… I wanted to pass along to students my love of Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures, and to help guide young people as teacher, coach, and mentor

Most memorable moment in teaching (so far)… Every single moment when a student who had to overcome adversity of some form was able to attain success

Favorite thing about John Carroll… The kind and enthusiastic spirit of our students and my colleagues, and their belief in JCS

When not in school, I enjoy (or my passion is)… Playing music (mainly classic rock), baseball, golf, political talk shows, being with family and good friends.

My learning style/learning preference is…. Visual and experiential

I am currently learning…. The value of focusing one’s efforts on top priorities, instead of trying to “do it all yesterday.”

My students don’t know that I…. am related to a well known college football coach
